Description

What is it?

Rosavin is the herb Rhodiola rosea, also commonly called "Golden Root." It comes from the polar arctic region of eastern Siberia at high elevations. Of the many species of Rhodiola, only rosea has the primary active phenylpropanoids of rosavin and salidroside among others. Each 150 mg capsule contains a standardized extract with 3% bioactive rosavin, rosin, rosarin, and salidroside. It also include 200 mcg of electrolytes. Other inert ingredients include plant gelatin and rice powder.

Rosavin is almost unknown in the United States. In Siberia the location of Golden Root plants are a closely held secret among families who live there. The emperor of China used to organize expeditions to Siberia to bring back this highly valued plant. Rosavin is an adaptogenic herb along the lines of more famous cousins such as ginseng, ashwaganda, suma, etc. Rosavin, however, is more powerful and may be the best adaptogenic herb available.

Cautions

No side effects were noted at normal doses. Doses above 800mg per day in some cases caused irritability, insomnia and unpleasant sensations. Rosavin is four times less toxic than Korean ginseng. Obviously, little is known of the effects of Rosavin in pregnant or nursing mothers and until then it should be avoided by them. Reports that it is an MAO inhibitor are greatly exaggerated. It has a minute and clinically insignificant activity in that regard and may be taken with any food or medication.

Suggested Use

Take 1 capsule in the morning and 1 in the early afternoon. Rosavin Plus is safe for children. Children under 9 should take half the minimum adult dose or 50 mg per day. Rosavin Plus does not build-up in the body like Echinacea.
