Melatonin is a hormone excreted by the pineal gland at the base of the brain.

Melatonin is nontoxic even
in doses hundreds of times the therapeutic dose. In Europe, very high doses are used as a
contraceptive. There is some concern about taking Melatonin if you have
an immune system cancer or autoimmune disease. Also, beta-blocker drugs such as Inderal,
Tenormin, Viskin, Normodyne and hordes of others, stop Melatonin
production. Patients taking these medications should also supplement Melatonin
to avoid insomnia.

DOSE
For sleep (most people) or jet lag take Chronoset 1.3 mg at bedtime.
For possible life extension properties take Melatonin-5 5 mg at bedtime.
