Pantothenic Acid

by  Life Extension

WHAT IS IT?

Pantothenic acid is Vitamin B5. Each capsule contains 550 mg of Calcium Pantothenate supplying 500 mg of Pantothenic acid and 50 mg of elemental Calcium. Inert ingredients are magnesium stearate, gelatin and water.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

Pantothenic Acid is an antioxidant and anti-stress vitamin.

Pantothenic acid plays a role in the synthesis of hemoglobin, steroid hormones, neurotransmitters, and lipids. It is the most important component of coenzyme A, which assists in several metabolic pathways and is necessary for the transfer of fats to and from cells. Without it, fats could not be metabolized to energy. Pantothenic acid can also:

  • Help increase physical endurance.
  • Assist in the formation of the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine.
  • Help remove age pigment (lipofuscin).
  • Maintain healthy skin.
  • Aid peristalsis.
  • Assist in lipid metabolism.

Pantothenic acid is only mildly acidic, but is often available in combination with calcium to neutralize its acidity and increase its storage stability.
