WHAT IS IT?
Life Start is a probiotic for children containing in 1/4 level teaspoonful, the bacteria, Bifidobacterium infantis, super strain NLS, 5 billion CFU.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
One of the reasons breast-fed babies are healthier as opposed to bottle-fed babies is that while traveling out of the birth canal, the babies become colonized with Bifidobacterium infantis. In infants, this bacterium comprises 99% of the large intestine where it aggressively combats pathogenic (disease causing) organisms. It does much the same thing as its cousin Bifidobacterium bifidus (See
Trenev Trio) does in adults by also forming B-vitamins, neutralizing toxins, and creating the proper environment in the bowels. This bacteria also contributes growth factors such as nitrogen retention which enables the baby to gain proper weight. In this regard, it also helps the baby digest milk and break down proteins for better nutrition.
Babies born by Caesarian section do not get colonized nearly as much. Nor are bottle-fed babies exposed to a continuing supply of this important organism. Mothers who take vitamins and minerals as well as essential fatty acids to create healthy children should not forget the proper probiotics, either.
B. infantis is a sensitive bacteria easily destroyed by environmental pollution. In the last half century according to a German study, the levels of this important bacteria have been declining even in breast-fed babies while the level of pathogenic organisms has been rising. When the study ended in 1988, it was found that 10% of infants had no B. infantis in their intestines at all. Apparently, the pollutants found in breast milk kill the bacteria.
Nursing mothers and pregnant women should take Life Start to provide a head start for their babies.

DOSE
