Ipriflavone
by Vital Nutrients
WHAT IS IT?
Ipriflavone is a soy derived isoflavone, also called 7-isopropoxyisoflavone. It is found naturally in bee propolis. Each capsule contains 300 mg and no fillers, binders, etc.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
Ipriflavone is an anabolic isoflavone, i.e. it builds muscle and bone.
CAUTIONS
Ipriflavone is generally without side-effects and has shown no toxicity. There is some reason to suspect that it may temporarily inhibit liver detoxification pathways leading to higher than normal blood levels of certain prescription drugs, e.g. theophylline.
Although many studies have shown benefits from this substance, one study with older, obese women having a severe disease showed no benefit. This study was peculiar in that obesity is supposed to protect against osteoporosis, so perhaps something else is going on. It might be that this substance works only for mild to moderate conditions. This study also showed suppression of lymphocytes, an essential immune system white blood cell group. No pathological states were associated with this such as increased infections. Those taking Ipriflavone should have a blood count periodically and/or take an immune stimulant.
DOSE
See the
Disclaimer.
The usual dose is 200 mg 3 times daily but recently experiments with 300 mg twice daily have also yielded good results. It should be taken with other anti-osteoporosis supplements such as
Bone Max, for best results. Ipriflavone is also absorbed 8 to 20 times more if taken with oils such as
Flax seed oil.
Body builders have been using from between 5 to 15 capsules per day.
NHC sells bottles of 90 capsules of Ipriflavone 300 mg for
$25.99. The suggested retail price is $29.25.
