WHAT IS IT? Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) is an Ayurvedic herb (called Brahmi "Greatest of the Great" in India as is Bacopa) with numerous uses. In Chinese medicine it was considered the primary herb for longevity. It contains saponins (also called triperpenoids) such as asiaticoside, madecassoside, and madasiatic acid. Gotu Kola is not related to the cola nut and has no caffeine. Each capsule contains 435 mg.
WHAT DOES IT DO? The primary effect of these saponins is to modulate, normalize and strengthen collagen, the primary component of connective tissue.
Gotu Kola is nontoxic but may cause skin rash or sedation in some people. Pregnant women or lactating women should not use it. Beware of products that contain Hydrocotyle asiatica, a weaker form of Gotu Kola. See Disclaimer.
DOSE Take 2 capsules 3 times daily with food.
NHC sells
bottles of 100 capsules of Gotu Kola 435 mg for $7.64.
The suggested retail price is $8.49.
