WHAT IS IT?

Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) is an extract of the seeds of the grapefruit tree. It has been processed into Citricidal©, a natural quaternary compound derived from the grapefruit bioflavonoids (polyphenolics.) This monograph contains information on the different products and uses of GSE from NutriBiotics.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

This amazing compound is perhaps the ultimate. It has a multiplicity of uses and is non-toxic and non-irritating when diluted as directed. Products made with GSE may be substituted for more toxic household products available from grocery and drug stores. It was discovered when a doctor in Florida noticed that the grapefruit seeds in his compost pile did not decompose and wondered why.

GSE Liquid Concentrate is the basic GSE product and has many uses. It is also combined with other ingredients to create a wide range of powerful but non-toxic household products.

Vaginal Rinse

In a study involving 20 women with chronic vaginal candidiasis, douching with a weak GSE solution (5 drops in 8 ounces of distilled water every 12 hours for 3 consecutive days) yielded a complete cure in 15 of 20. Four others required 2 courses and 1 required 3 after it was discovered that her mate was also infected and he was also treated. It may also be used as a routine douche. Always dilute!

Dental Rinse

For healthy gums and fresh breath stir 3 drops into 2 oz. or more of water. Swish for 10 seconds or more once or twice daily.

NutriBiotic Dentalgel is a peppermint flavored toothpaste product which contains grapefruit extract, aloe vera, baking soda, sanguinaria extract, stevia, hydrated silica, boron, calcium, vitamin C and natural flavors. It contains no fluoride or other toxins. It is highly useful to prevent gum disease.

Throat Gargle

Stir 3 drops into 3 oz. or more of water and gargle several times. Symptomatic relief is usually quite rapid.

Ear Rinse

Mix 4-10 drops in 1 oz. of glycerin or alcohol. Apply 1-2 drops in affected area 1-2 times daily. Use as often as needed. Symptomatic relief of swimmer's ear is usually rapid.

NutriBiotic Ear Drops contains GSE and tea tree oil.

Nasal Rinse

Mix 1 drop of GSE with 2 oz. of water. Place 1 dropperful into nostrils.

NutriBiotic Nasal Spray contains grapefruit extract and sodium ascorbate.

External

Facial Cleanser

Moisten face with warm or cool water. Apply 2-3 drops of GSE to wet fingertips and gently massage facial area with circular motions. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry. A tingling sensation may occur but this is an indication of deep cleansing. Always dilute!

NutriBiotic Skin Cleanser contains GSE and natural, non-drying ingredients from aloe and various herbs. It contains no sodium lauryl sulfate, free chlorine derivatives, parabens, cocamide DEA, colorings or fragrance. For sensitive skin.

Skin Rinse

For minor skin irritations dilute GSE, 5-10 drops per tablespoonful of water, and apply to affected area twice daily. Excellent for acne.

NutriBiotic First Aid Skin Spray contains GSE and tea tree oil with lemon. It can be used on minor cuts, burns, scrape and skin irritations.

NutriBiotic Skin Ointment contains 2% GSE as well as lysine, vitamins A,C and E, tea tree oil, goldenseal, echinacea, bee propolis, BHT, honey, cajeput oil and calendula. It is useful for minor skin infections and herpes sores.

NutriBiotic Natural Foot Powder is also great for diaper rashes. It contains GSE and Tea tree oil. Unscented and talc free.

NutriBiotic Deodorant Stick contains GSE, Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera. It contains no aluminum products. Unscented.

Nail Treatment

Using the same dilution (5-10 drops per tablespoonful,) apply twice daily in, around and under affected nails for as long as desired.

Scalp Treatment

Mix 5-10 drops of GSE into shampoo on hand or head and massage into scalp for at least two minutes. Rinse off thoroughly with water. It may also be used without shampoo.

NutriBiotic Super Shower Gel is a whole body moisturizing shampoo. It contains GSE as well as various herbs, vitamins and minerals, TRP® Tissue Respiratory Factors, etc. It contains no sodium lauryl sulfate, free chlorine derivatives or colorings.

Surgical skin washing

Tests show that GSE (at 100 PPM) was 100% effective in emergency field skin prepping verus 72% for alcohol. Also at this concentration it was found to be 100% effective in presurgical 1 minute scrubs versus 98% for commercially available surgical soap.

Household uses

Toothbrush cleaner.

Use 5-10 drops of GSE in a glass of water. Submerge toothbrush for 15 minutes (or leave in between uses.) Rinse toothbrush between uses and change solution every few days.

Vegetable/fruit/meat/poultry Wash

Add 30 or more drops of GSE to a sink full of cold water. Briefly soak any food items that need to be disinfected. Or add 20 or more drops to a quart spray bottle and spray the food.

Dish and Utensil Cleaning Additive

Add 15 to 30 drops of GSE to sink dishwashing water or final rinse. Add 15 to 30 drops automatic dishwasher detergent or final rinse.

Cutting Board Cleaner

Apply 10 to 20 drops of GSE to  cutting board and work into entire board with a wet sponge or dish cloth. Leave on at least 20 minutes and rinse with water.

Laundry

Add 20 to 30 drops to final rinse.

Humidifiers

Add 5-10 drops to reservoir.

All Purpose Cleaner

Add 30 to 60 drops of GSE to a 32 oz. pump sprayer filled with water or cleanser. Use on all surfaces around the house.

CAUTIONS

Depending upon the concentration, GSE may have a slightly bitter taste. Never use undiluted!
