WHAT IS IT? L-Carnitine is a vitamin-like substance made from L-Lysine. It is structurally related to choline. Max Carnitine is a foundational carnitine supplement. Each tablet contains 500 mg of L-Carnitine. Other ingredients include cellulose, gelatin, talc, and silica.
WHAT DOES IT DO? L-Carnitine is essential for cellular energy. It transports essential fatty acids across cell membranes where they can be burned for fuel in the cellular mitochondria. The degree of Carnitine availability determines the ability of the mitochondria to burn calories and give the body energy.
CAUTIONS Almost no side-effects have been reported other than some isolated cases of skin rash, body odor or increased appetite. L-Carnitine should be taken by those under 40 or those without mental deficits. Those who want to enhance their brain rejuvenation or are over 40 should take Acetyl-L-Carnitine. Carbohydrates antagonize Carnitine. It works best when carbohydrates are minimized. According to Crayon people sometimes do not benefit if they do not take enough. Some people need 2,000 mg of Carnitine per day. A few others need up to 4,000 mg per day. Doses of Acetyl-L-Carnitine are about a quarter of this. See Disclaimer.
DOSE Take 1 tablet per day or as directed by a health professional.
